Random headcanon: Sacred hawks, unclean hawks

sparkylurkdragon:

Random headcanon from the Team ICO series! Specifically, Shadow of the Colossus.

The hawk is sacred to Dormin. Might be the specific species that can be seen all around Their lands, but, yes, Dormin’s sacred animal. They might even be able to use the local ones to project further than Their binds would usually allow… say, to keep an eye on their odd little champion. This relationship is likely why the hawks around Dormin’s land are absurdly strong, or it could just be that they can carry Wander specifically because he has bits of the god inside him. (Or it could just be a quirk of the game engine, but eh. :-p)

Because these hawks are sacred to Dormin, they are of course considered unclean and a bad omen by the rest of the local gods and their people.

I have a lot of theories about the Dormin and why they were imprisoned in the first place.  You don’t get enough information to know for sure.  I’d be curious to hear other folks’ headcanons for that, because I don’t have a set one.
I am, however, always on Wander’s side. :3

Random headcanon? Okie-dokie. :3
Mine is that Dormin was sealed because They had a different policy on reviving mortals than the other gods in the area. Namely, They’re okay with bringing mortals back under certain circumstances (say, a baby who died of measles or someone who did something spectacularly heroic and died for it), but for the other gods around, this is a Wrong thing.
The other gods may also have resented Dormin for reviving mortals who had followed them in their previous life. Dormin is in ur afterlifes, stealin ur converts, as it were.
So, the other gods convinced Dormin’s people of their own laws of life and death, and had Them sealed.
